The foundation of our work lies in the soil, which is a living organism. We observe soil very closely and attach great importance to treating it with care and respecting its chemical, organic, and physical processes.

The soil at Barbazan is highly micologicly acitve and made us become very curious about the beneficial impacts of the fungal networks. We observe rare species like fairy rings and truffles, and we utilize others for composting and soil enrichment or to process them into foods.

Regenerative agriculture is an approach aimed at protecting and restoring soils and micro-organisms. At Barbazan, we focus on systems designed to continuously improve organic matter, water quality, and biodiversity. We recycle organic waste and minimize disturbances to the micro-ecology of the topsoil.

At Barbazan we specialize in the organic polyculture with a focus on perennial flowers, shrubs, and trees. We cultivate a large number of species for various purposes, with a  harvesting period of 12 months.

We believe that microclimates are the key to successful horticulture. Before we grow a new plant, it is tested in different microclimates to fully understand the individual needs of each kind. We operate various test beds with different conditions to closely examine the differences in their requirements.

Direct sales enable farmers to increase their profit margins, reduce logistics costs, and create jobs in rural areas. Although we are an international team, we place great emphasis on direct sales strategies and resource efficiency through decentralization and local networks.
